DR. PETER C. BISHOP
Teach the Future: A Platform for Teaching 21st Century Skills

Dr. Bishop is the Founder and Executive Director of Teach the Future, an organization whose mission is to encourage and support educators who want to include futures thinking in their classes and schools at all levels.  In 2013, Dr. Bishop retired as an Associate Professor of Strategic Foresight and Director of the graduate program in Foresight at the University of Houston. 
 
He has published two books on Strategic Foresight: Thinking about the Future: Guidelines for Strategic Foresight (2007) and Teaching about the Future: The Basics of Foresight Education (2012), both with co-author Andy Hines.  He delivers keynote addresses and conducts seminars on the future for business, government and not-for-profit organizations.  He also facilitates groups in developing scenarios, visions and strategic plans for the future.  Dr. Bishop's clients include IBM, the NASA Johnson Space Center, Nestle USA, Tetra Pak, the Shell Pipeline Corporation, the Defense and Central Intelligence Agencies, the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, the Texas Department of Transportation, the California Environmental Protection Agency, and the Center for Houston’s Future.  Dr. Bishop is a founding Board member of the Association of Professional Futurists and President of his own firm, Strategic Foresight and Development, which offers training and facilitation to businesses and government agencies.
 
Dr. Bishop came to the University of Houston in 2005, having taught futures studies at the Clear Lake campus since 1982.  Dr. Bishop started teaching at Georgia Southern College in 1973 where he specialized in social problems and political sociology.  He received his doctoral degree in sociology from Michigan State University in 1974.  Dr. Bishop received a bachelor's degree in philosophy from St. Louis University where he also studied mathematics and physics.  He grew up in St. Louis, Missouri where he was a member of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) for seven years.  Dr. Bishop is married with two children and two grandchildren.


DR. LISA M. MILLER & DR. MICHELLE COLLIER
21st Century Hope for Positive Psychology in Academic Leadership and Physician Education

Dr. Miller and Dr. Collier are co-authors on the upcoming book Health and Positive Psychology.  Their mission aims to increase the usage of positive psychology in health science education and health care settings.  Dr. Miller serves as a Professor of Health Sciences at the American Military University, and Dr. Collier practices as a Physician at the University of Cincinnati. They deliver keynote speeches, presentations, and training sessions on hope for positive psychology in leadership, education, sports, religion, and medicine.  Dr. Miller will be presenting her second keynote at Harvard University following a previous presentation in 2017 on Positive Leadership Tools for Healthy Perfectionism.  Dr. Collier works with the Bill Gates Millennium Scholar program as an ambassador and mentor for diverse students.  They provided consulting and physician services to a variety of universities including Harvard University, Tufts University, Case Western University, Ohio State University, University of Denver, Ashland University, and Ohio Dominican University.  Dr. Miller also served as a Co-Chair of the Harvard Leadership Conference, an Executive Board Member for the North American Society of Sport Management, a Special Interest Coordinator for Positive Psychology in Sport and Exercise, and Co-Editor and Founder of the Chronicle for Advancements in Positive Health and Well-Being.  Dr. Collier provided medical service to the David Satcher Minorities in Medicine Program at Case Western University and served as a Visiting Scholar at Ohio State University for Underrepresented Minorities in Medicine.  She completed consults on cancer, hematology, and infectious diseases. 

They have an expertise in health science and medicine with a passion for collaboration on innovative education projects, such as the HarvardX initiative. Dr. Miller received a Doctorate in Sport and Exercise Management with a Specialization in Counseling and Sport Psychology from Ohio State University, a Master of Labor and Human Resources degree from The Fisher College of Business with a Specialization in Training and Development, a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Wright State University as a tennis scholar athlete, a Certification in Positive Psychology Coaching from Martin Seligman at The University of Pennsylvania, and a Graduate Concentration in Religious Studies and Education from Harvard University.  Dr. Collier received her medical degree from Tufts School of Medicine and Bachelor of Science Degree in Biochemistry and Biological Sciences from the University of Denver with a Minor in Medical Physics.  She also served the American Medical Women’s Association at Tufts University and as a member of the Diversity and Inclusion Committee.  They provide consulting to various individuals and organizations fostering positive psychology awareness and optimizing positive cultures.  They enjoy applying positive psychology conversation to past, present, and future education issues, societal trends, and individual goal pursuits.
